Nicola Rescigno has died at age 92. He helped found two major American companies - The Lyric Theatre of Chicago (later renamed Lyric Opera of Chicago), and The Dallas Civic Opera (later renamed The Dallas Opera). His performances included the American debuts of Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Placido Domingo, Jon Vickers, Montserrat Caballé, and Magda Olivero.
