'Solitude' (NYC, 3/19/09-3/23/09)

Solitude
NYC, The Times Center, March 19 - 23, 2009

"SOLITUDE is a photo exhibition of black and white images by the Italian photographer Daniela Zedda. 20 years of outstanding cultural events are told in these images; a period during which Sardinia, an island in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, has been an important meeting point for the international music scene, particularly for Jazz music in the numerous festivals organised in every corner of this land which is as unique and offers just as many emotions as music itself. The value and merit of Daniela Zedda’s work is a result of her actually being present at all these musical events, from which she manages to accurately bring out the atmosphere and the magic of the sound. Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Nina Simone, Michael Petrucciani, Lester Bowie, Don Cherry, Liza Minelli, D.D. Bridgwater, Miriam Macheba, and James Brown are just a few of the artists who inspire this trip into the variegated soul of Jazz."
