Pittore Imperiale. Pietro Benvenuti alla corte di Napoleone e dei Lorena
Florence, Pitti Palace (Palatine Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art) - March 10 - June 21, 2009
"The exhibition is dedicated to the figure, little known to the majority, of Pietro Benvenuti (Arezzo, 1769 – Florence, 1844), leading protagonist of Tuscan art in the years of passage from neoclassicism to romanticism. Close to the seats of power in every phase of his career, which went from the turbulent times of the French Revolution onwards, Benvenuti revealed himself to be an artist of great rank, on a par with his greatest contemporaries in Italy and abroad."
