According to a Regione Calabria's press release, starting next September, Wim Wenders is going to make a 3D movie about Kurdish immigrants who reached Badolato with a boat called "Ararat" in 1997. The title will be "Il Volo" (The Flight). The scenario was written by Eugenio Melloni. The two main characters will be a child and a major (Ben Gazzara), facing a village where you cannot organize a football match due to the absence of population.
Calabria was the first Italian Region which ratified a law granting asylum to refugees, based on experiences acquired by several municipalities such as Riace, Caulonia and Stignano.
