"The famous Italian actor, writer and theatre director Pippo Delbono (°1959) will be one of the guests of honour at the 62nd edition of the [Locarno] Festival.
A brilliant and provocative man of theatre, a writer on personal as well as political subjects, Pippo Delbono has also established himself in recent years as one of Italian cinema’s most stimulating directors.
The Locarno audience will have an opportunity to discover the entire body of Pippo Delbono’s work in cinema, in a series of films linked to his stage productions, as well as documentaries about his work – a rich programme that includes several hitherto unseen and new works. Note that Pippo Delbono’s latest feature film, La Paura, co-produced by the Forum des Images (Paris), and shot entirely with a mobile phone, will have a special out-of-competition screening; while the short film Blue Sofa, co-directed with Lara Fremder, Giuseppe Baresi and Pippo Delbono, will be shown on the Piazza Grande.
Finally, Pippo Delbono will give an exceptional performance of his monologue Racconti di Giugno in Locarno, and engage in discussion with festival-goers in a special session." (festival's website)
