140^ Anniversary of Rome Capital of Italy

"It was a gap of 30 meters, opened on September 20, 1870 near Porta Pia, that allowed access to Papal Rome by Cadorna’s troops. A few days later a plebiscite sanctioned the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the first step towards its proclamation as the capital of Italy in February 1871.
140 years after the Capture of Rome (September 20, 1870), the City of Rome is organizing three days of events, conferences, talks, shows, openings and guided tours to celebrate a great moment in history, the eternal city and its role in the history of Italian unification.
In collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministries of the Republic and the Vatican City, the celebrations will be held on the streets but also in historical buildings, churches and monuments, under the coordination and organization of Zètema Culture Project."
