Down Pompeii? The ruin of Italy's cultural heritage

* article by Michael Day [The Independent]

Ci teniamo e puntualizzare che lo scopo dell'iniziativa non è affatto una contestazione, nè una manifestazione di piazza, ma nasce dallesigenza di sensibilizzare la cittadinanza e di valorizzare il carattere pubblico del mondo istruzione e quindi di esaltare la propria eccellenza, nello specifico quella ferrarese che negli ultimi anni ha fatto grandi salti di qualità;
The 2010 Report on Immigrations by Caritas Migrantes

The first Report on Immigration Caritas Migrantes was published in 1991. The 2010 edition is a special recurrence, after 20 years.

Introduzione e scheda riepilogativi
II contesto internazionale ed europeo
Flussi migratori e stranieri soggiornanti
Il mondo del lavoro
I contesti regionali

Corruption Perceptions Index 2010

"Transparency International (TI) defines corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. This definition encompasses corrupt practices in both the public and private sectors. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranks countries according to the perception of corruption in the public sector. The CPI is an aggregate indicator that combines different sources of information about corruption, making it possible to compare countries."

"The 2010 Corruption Perceptions Index shows that nearly three quarters of the 178 countries in the index score below five, on a scale from 10 (highly clean) to 0 (highly corrupt). These results indicate a serious corruption problem. [...] Denmark, New Zealand and Singapore are tied at the top of the list with a score of 9.3, followed closely by Finland and Sweden at 9.2. Bringing up the rear is Somalia with a score of 1.1, slightly trailing Myanmar and Afghanistan at 1.4 and Iraq at 1.5."

And Italy? Its score is only 3,9!

140^ Anniversary of Rome Capital of Italy

"It was a gap of 30 meters, opened on September 20, 1870 near Porta Pia, that allowed access to Papal Rome by Cadorna’s troops. A few days later a plebiscite sanctioned the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the first step towards its proclamation as the capital of Italy in February 1871.
140 years after the Capture of Rome (September 20, 1870), the City of Rome is organizing three days of events, conferences, talks, shows, openings and guided tours to celebrate a great moment in history, the eternal city and its role in the history of Italian unification.
In collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministries of the Republic and the Vatican City, the celebrations will be held on the streets but also in historical buildings, churches and monuments, under the coordination and organization of Zètema Culture Project."
