The artistic initiative of singer/songwriter Angelo Branduardi to honor the life of medieval Saint and poet Francis of Assisi, whose writings, along with other Franciscan sources, have been here interpreted through music and theatre. September 8, 1943
On September 8, 1943, the Armistice between Italy and the Allied Forces, signed on September 3, was publicly declared. The majority of the Italian Army had not been informed about the Armistice, and a message from Marshal Pietro Badoglio, head of the Italian Government, was ambiguous on the question of the role of the Italian army with respect to the German armed forces. Without instructions, the Italian armed forces collapsed. The Wehrmacht immediately occupied the territory that was not under Allied control.

Sacco and Vanzetti Commemoration Day (Boston, MA Aug 23)
On Saturday, August 23rd, Boston will remember the 81st anniversary of the execution of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants and committed anarchists whose trial is widely regarded as one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in American history. Calling attention to the continued repression of immigrants and radicals, the Sacco and Vanzetti Commemoration Society (SVCS) invites all to attend and participate in the third annual march and rally.
